Coach Mikael Hanson
Mikael Hanson | 40-44Mikael is a certified Level 1 USA Triathlon coach, a Level 2 USA Cycling coach, a Schwinn indoor cycling instructor, a member of Power Bar Team Elite, Suunto Sports Ambassador, and will soon be completing his USA Track and Field certification. His longevity in endurance sports comes from the fact that he has instilled training into his daily routine and has fun with it (and typically competes in over 20 events each year!).
After spending nearly 15 years working on Wall Street, Mikael left banking in 2004 and started Enhance Sports - an Endurance coaching company. In 2006, Mikael joined Cadence Cycling and Multisport Centers as the Director of Performance for their New York location.
Mikael left the world of corporate coaching in November of 2008 and returned to Enhance Sports where he could not only spend more time with his athletes, but also his new son Matthew (yes - I blame Matthew for my lack of podiums in 2008 - but I would have it no other way!).
While growing up in Wisconsin, Mikael was a nationally ranked cyclist and top regional cross-country ski racer, but his move to the east coast has seen him graduate into other endurance sports. Mikael is the ultimate multi-sport junkie, competing in numerous duathlons, triathlons, bike races, running events, and even a couple cross-country ski races during the year and has been doing so for over two decades!
Mikael has worked with athletes of all ages and abilities - from first timers to CEOs to even a World Champion! Mikael was the 2002 and 2004 multi-sport athlete of the year for the New York Flyers (NYC's largest running club) and represented Team USA at the 2007 World Duathlon Championships in Gyor, Hungry. He holds a BA from the University of Wisconsin and an MBA from NYU's Stern School of Business.
